No argument here with regard to Jason Bourne — it’s utterly average and really, an insult to the rest of the series—but to completely dismiss Ultimatum is madness. All three of the original films are excellent, and Ultimatum is arguably the best of the lot. The reveal of Bourne actually volunteering for Treadstone is a sensational move (completely undone by the absurd Richard Webb plotline in Bourne), the Waterloo station scene is phenomenal, and David Strathairn’s Noah Vosen is the goods as an egotistical, seemingly untouchable antagonist. Bourne owning Vosen in NYC is a genuine fist-pumping moment for the audience.
