Practice before dawn

Friday morning I was up much earlier than normal. Instead of the usual 6:15, my alarm was set for 4:30 am. I did not do this for my health. I did it because we had practice before school from 5–7am. Practices this season have been especially grueling, and just because this practice was earlier than normal did not make it any different. It was two hours of maximum effort and intensity. It is no surprise that I was useless in school that day. The only saving grace to the practice was that Coach Giff brought us all breakfast for afterwards. He brought us a donuts, orange juice, chocolate milk, and breakfast sandwiches. After the rigorous practice, the team could not have been more thankful. I also feel like the practice brought us together in a way. The circumstances surrounding it seemed to strengthen our bond. Despite the hardship, small obstacles like getting up early are good for our team. You may notice that the underlying team my posts have been our team is focused on being great. We would gladly practice at 5 every morning if it means winning the section. Sectional titles don’t come easy is a concept this team fully accepts.
