You also NEEDED a watch on your wrist to tell the time – not just as a fashion statement or to record your sleep patterns, heart rate and lack of activity (unless winding it counts). Your wristwatch time was also at least 5–10 minutes out of synch because there was no network or phone to set it to the exact time (you could periodically use the television to set it, and if you were really lost, confirm the date).
