Why Writing Limericks…Is ‘cracking’ Good Fun.
Attempting to write in a genre or style, that is not your normal ‘bread and butter’ can be good fun. Here’s why writing in Limerick can be good fun…
I’m not one for writing in Limerick,
perhaps its too much of a gimmick.
But whenever there’s a doubt,
as to know what to write
You should give it a go, in Limerick.
Of course, people will say,
you’re giving your trade away.
It couldn’t be further from the truth,
when your trying to tell the truth,
In some weirdly, orchestrated way.
So, I say, I say, I say,
Just give it a try, one day.
Try to bring a smile,
In a ditty, humorous way.
There’s reasons a plenty, to write,
there’s reasons a plenty to pray.
One of those reasons, is such,
to tax your mind at brunch,
writing in a Limerick way.
Another reason to write,
in the wonderful Limerick way.
Is when you have nothing else to write,
on any given writing day.
Giving your mind a rest,
by putting it to the test.
In writing a verse or 2,
But not necessarily, fashionably the best.
A final reason to write,
in any funny Limerick light.
Is quite simply, surprisingly this,
that it’s just being able to write.
Of course, it doesn’t need to make much sense,
when you write in a quirky ‘sen-ten-s’.
But you’ll have the last laugh,
when you receive a welcoming ”clap”
And so, I must begin to end,
my first Limericks at my mornings end.
Just remember one thing if you can,
you don’t need to be a ‘mag-ician’.
Writing in Limerick, today,
has been fun, in a peculiar way.
I’ll try it again, putting paper to paper,
to see if i can get away…with writing in Limerick.
