Eugenie Bouchard Files Lawsuit After Slip and Fall Incident

Active sports enthusiasts eat, breathe and sleep for their favorite games. Athletes from Salt Lake City to the East Coast must be in top physical shape to compete properly. Yet through the several years of lessons, training, leagues and matches, athletes constantly run the risk of injury.

Dangerous slip and fall incidents can leave athletes needing the beneficial aid of a lawyer. Unfortunately, this painful scenario is the case for 21-year-old champion tennis player Eugenie Bouchard.

Bouchard’s Slip an Fall Incident

During the U.S. Open last September, Bouchard experienced a slip and fall incident in the physiotherapy room of the women’s locker room. The athlete was caused to slip from “a slippery, foreign and dangerous substance on the floor,” reported CNN. The Canadian tennis player suffered a severe concussion which caused her to pull out of the U.S. Open hosted east of Salt Lake City in New York.

With the assistance of a lawyer, the recently named world’s most marketable athlete filed a lawsuit against the United States Tennis Association and United States National Tennis Center for the incident. The lawsuit claims the facility should have been aware of the substance on the floor, but failed to provide Bouchard any warnings whatsoever regarding the room’s dangerous condition.

What Can Be Done to Prevent Injury?

Athletes must be cautious when training for and playing their cherished sport. Many activities and sports can be physically demanding and hazardous. With this concept in mind, athlete injuries are anything but uncommon.

Athletes should take extra care and caution when on the track, field or court. By using proper equipment and wearing appropriate shoes designed to keep athletes safe during activity, hardworking sports-stars can keep from painful slip and fall injuries requiring the help of a lawyer.

Furthermore, athletic environments should be kept free of debris and spills. Whether one is practicing at the home court, or competing at a tournament in Salt Lake City, athletes should always keep eyes out for potential hazards.
