Upcoming NBA Season to Start Earlier Than Usual

Robert Miller, who serves as CEO of Solar Avenir and Battery Metals, previously held executive leadership positions with Abakan and several other companies throughout his 31-year career. In his free time, former Abakan CEO Robert Miller enjoys following the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The NBA released its schedule for the 2017–18 regular season on August 10 and there is one noticeable change. The league often begins its season toward the end of October, but the upcoming campaign will begin on October 17 with a doubleheader showcasing an early game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics as well as a late game between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors. National TV doubleheaders will also take place the following three nights as fans get an opportunity to see the revamped Minnesota Timberwolves as well as Lonzo Ball’s NBA debut with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The week-early start is part of a concerted effort by the NBA to allow for more time off throughout the season. Superstar players skipping games for rest purposes was a popular topic last season, but in 2017–18 teams will play less back-to-back games and will no longer complete stretches of four games in five nights.
