This: “Guess what? We Jews aren’t the ones owning and controlling everything. We Jews are not the man behind the curtain. We Jews are the curtain.”

And this: “The more the economic elite are consolidating their wealth and power, the more heavily they rely on white supremacy to get the majority of non-rich Americans to go along, and the more use they make of Jews as foils to get away with their corporate robbery in plain sight, without being noticed. It’s possible that this is another useful role Jared Kushner and Steven Miller play as court Jews.”

So good. As a non-Jewish person, I think everyone “like me” should read those quotes.

I’ve been telling a lot of people stories of when I was a young guy in Chicago, trying to expose the organizing of the white “christian” identity movement, and all of it. Bear in mind I am a tall grandson of Polish immigrants, and for people who don’t know better, I probably pass as “Aryan.”

I wasn’t violent, I didn’t engage in or encourage violence, I just wanted people to be there. I hoped the Nazis could see that there were a lot of people who looked like them, who did not support them and were not going to be complacent.

I got weird responses from the “smart” kids. Some of them were Jewish. They would say really very stupid things, like, “If you’re not a Nazi, why are you trying to prove you’re not a Nazi?” and “You’re just trying to prove you’re not racist, and that makes you look racist”, and may favorite nonsense, “I don’t want to participate in ‘white guilt’.” Whatever the F that even is, for F sake.

Again, these were supposed to be the real smarties, from the good schools, like Northwestern and whatever, and a couple of these geniuses were even in MENSA and all kinds of other things that I think I’m supposed to be intellectually intimidated by. But I’m not impressed. Really. Totally, 100% not impressed.

We were always told that when we see these things happening we are supposed to warn people. That we have to stand up for society because it starts with one group, and then it never ends. So, as an American who grew up in Detroit, a Black Country, and someone also graciously and fortunately influenced by Jewish communities near there, Persian, Arab, Palestinian, Indian and the list goes on. As someone who grew up hearing Dr. King’s speeches, I knew I was supposed to do what needed doing. You tell people.

Believe me, if you saw me, I think you’d say, “Yeah, maybe if this guy tries to tell us white supremacists are organizing, he might know something.” That culture was peripheral to me my whole life. I am “the white man”, Blue Collar, but “the white man” nonetheless, at least in the eyes of people who don’t know who writes policy.

It’s not just something happening out in the country, in shacks and broken down saloons. It’s in the basements of American Evangelical Churches. They aren’t just teaching them a twisted, bastardized, fantastical version of the Constitution, but they are teaching them guns. In the Churches… where the Holy Spirit lives, OK?

My family has only been here for about one hundred years, and we are all ex-Catholics, so those white American traditions of hating everything and hiding behind Alabaster Swedish Jesus are not ours. Although some of my people sure try to be WASPY. That’s pretty funny, and a whole different rant.

I didn’t let the silliness or coldness of those kids in the past stop me from doing what I knew was right. I did organize, I did talk to the kids of these frightened fake christian people and try to tell them there is a way out. I spent a lot of time volunteering on Domestic U.S. human rights abuses.

One of the lessons of the Civil Rights movement is the one step forward, two steps back thing. You get something major done and they hit you twice as hard. Hello Orangutan. Hello recruiting from white supremacist groups into ICE, hello pardoning a man who scoffs at his own State Supreme Court while continuing to throw brown citizens in jail. Hello extremists in the White House. Goodbye DACA.

Essentially, what I’m getting at is, do you think those really smart kids believe me now?
