One of the comments below asks the question: ‘Why does the U.S. feel the need to collaborate with Al Qaeda in Syria?’ Strange, you may think, given that the destruction of the Middle East stems from the U.S. trying to capture or kill Osama by invading…Iraq.
Well, the U.S. is the major prop of the vile Sunni oil monarchies in the region, Saudi Arabia above all. So the U.S. has adopted many of the Saudis views about the Middle-East, in particular the need to contain Iran and Shias in general. Yes it’s funny that by invading Iraq the U.S. actually put Shias in power and helped Iran immensely, but bad decisions do have a tendency to…blow up in your face. Et Voila! You have the U.S. helping its Saudi allies by supporting Al-Qaeda in Syria.
Unfortunately, the only way this is going to change is by the U.S. rethinking it’s role in the region. So, yeah, that’s not going to happen.
