National Coming Out Day. Big deal. Big Whoopie. And really, no thanks to the HRC which, until very recently, had no use for the transgender community except as a sacrificial offering made in order to advance the interests of White gay men.

I am a trans woman. I am married to a cis woman. In some people’s universe that makes us lesbians. But in our universe it makes us two people who are in love with each other. No labels, no tags.

Neither one of us does anything special on National Coming Out Day; were it not for all the posts on Facebook I’d be completely unaware of it. National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day of Remembrance, the anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s murder — why do so many of the days we “celebrate” seem to be marked by death?

Me, I’m looking forward to National I’m Different But Can Safely Live My Life Day.
