I agree that both sides are to blame. Weak management feeds bad practices and poor characters. But we are all professionals and should act as such. Even if Rick was nice and was trying his best, everyone should have seen the risks involved in having one person in charge of so much. What if he/she was hit by a bus? Whole company goes under? This was bad risk management and avoiding dealing with issues. And unless you work for NASA nothing takes 2 years to get an MVP working, as the lead on that I would get product and project to really question the project scope.
