A Black Southern Sci-Fi Fan’s Thoughts On HBO’s 'Confederate'

When I first heard about HBO’s proposed series “Confederate,” my reaction was immediate and visceral.

Being African-American —as well as having been born and raised in the South — I know the legacy of the Confederacy is still very much alive and well.

I experience it on an almost daily basis. It is not “alt-history” for me, but a sober reality.

So, I recorded a video to fully articulate my feelings about the proposed HBO series, and why the #NoConfederate protest is NOT censorship (looking at you Judd Apatow), but an exercise in the First Amendment.
