Simple straightforward solutions always win
It’s one month since I have started my practicum at Kitabu-Buk project part of my followup program offered by IREX to Mandela Washington Fellows.
What is Kitabu-Buk? I’m glad you have asked.
Kitabu is a youth-led organization that donates books to disadvantaged schools, especially in rural and urban poor. The idea is simple. Get pupils in best and high performing schools donate their books to disadvantaged schools after finishing a level of education.
Yeah, its that simple.
I’m absolutely amazed by the level of impact the project has made by just applying a simple and straightforward solution. since 2014 they have donated over 40,000 books to over 20 rural or Urban poor schools in Uganda.
The magic solution is, get books from high performing schools give them to underperforming schools voila. There are passing exams.
This has led me to this question that has always been on my head.
“Why do we like complicating solutions?
Now, and again it has been proven that the basic straightforward solutions always win.
