This is one of the most intelligent discussions of bisexuality I’ve read, Madeleine Holden. Having grown up in a big city where people tend to be pretty easygoing and open-minded about sex, I realize I’ve been in a privileged position, never really having to question or conceal my own pansexuality. But it saddens me how many guys have confided their “closet” bisexuality to me as if it’s something to be ashamed of. You certainly hit the nail on the head regarding what makes bi men attractive to women; my experiences with my “gay boyfriend” and other open-minded playmates is something I’ve written about from time to time and they are some of the most exciting and pleasurable experiences I’ve had. I’ve also enjoyed encouraging some of my male friends to explore this aspect of their sexuality. I live in hope that one day a more fluid definition of sexual orientation will become the norm, and people will be comfortable being attracted to a person, not just the genitalia they’re sporting!
