Kate, thanks for writing about this. I haven’t seen much written about this topic. You gave us a very interesting perspective from an activist. As a Tiananmen Massacre survivor who later became a journalist then a human rights activist, I have experienced depression from time to time, not because I feel isolated and lonely, but because I feel very helpless that all my efforts seem futile — the world is dumbing down and becoming more violent, or has it always been like this?
