100 days of uncomfortable things — day 41 — Reflect on your work

What would happen if we stopped to consider all that we learn from our daily work, no matter how tedious or difficult it is? It’s a very useful and thought-provoking exercise.

I sat down to write a list of everything I’ve gained from my role as a tutor along with all the aspects of it that I enjoy. Among other things, I’m learning about the power of relationships, humour and the willingness to try something new.

We’re often told to do our jobs with enthusiasm and dedication, no matter what they are — this is sound advice. If you approach your work with an attitude of curiosity, and, as my Dad always says, a smile, it’s very likely that you’ll enjoy it at least a little bit more.
