Listening for Creativity.
I have an almost exact process when it comes to setting my space for beginning new creative projects or getting out of “ruts”.
I listen for creativity.
Most designers get to that place where they are just stuck and I’m certainly no different however my process is simple for me and involves a short music playlist of feature film scores. The range by genre is so vast that I can find inspiration just by simply loading what I think most connects with the type of project I’m working on.

The Design Score
2 words. Hans Zimmer.
I sit in the dark, plug in the Bose and select one or two Scores by Zimmer on repeat. It is an amazing way to clear out all of the noise and distractions of the world around me and in my office. Which is usually filled with collateral sketches and throw-aways from previous projects. All of the prior works sitting on the shelf, begging to be revised one final time.
“Settle your Mind”
It’s what my wife often tells me when its time to get the creative juices flowing. Settle your Mind.
Hans Zimmer’s “Dies Mercurli I Martius” settles my mind. And then the creativity flows in.
