The Green Party’s Troubling Stance on Sex Work
Emily Pothast

The Green Party should use a different term to describe trafficked victims and voluntary workers, as Susan Anderson Price comments.

Women, or others, subject to trafficking are actually “slaves” and “rape victims.” In a free society, they almost always have the means to contact the police who could rescue them and arrest their captors. But the victims are probably illegal immigrants and would lose out. Logically, the traffickers should be punished for breaking the immigration laws, and the victims should be allowed to stay and given a work visa, since there is an economic demand for their services. This would rapidly stop trafficking and solve all the problems raised.
