Cold Weather

September 12, 2015

Cold weather seems to bring everyone together. It brings that time of year that causes you to think. Think about your future, and take action on it. Think about the past, and how happy and or sad it makes you feel.

For me, the beginning of fall is a time of self reflection. I feel more attune and comfortable with myself than I do all year. I wake up early, listen to music and think. It’s nice.

It causes me to reconnect with old friends, that I miss so much. It pushes me to reach out to them and pursue hanging out with them. Dwelling on what was isn’t always a bad thing.

It makes me more adventurous. I’ve decided to spend a semester away, maybe abroad. I’m now determined to get my first tattoo, something I promised myself I would have by the end of last year. I’m planning trips to the mountains to get away.

It takes me back to my roots. When I was younger and didn’t care what people thought or how they viewed me as much. I feel comfortable in my own skin and with my own interests. I truly enjoy who I am.

With cold weather comes a time to reconnect. Reconnect with your old friends, you old wants/dreams. It comes with a sense of adventure and care-free attitude that makes you go after your dreams and passions. But most importantly it comes with the ability to reconnect and rediscover who you really want to be. To decide where you want to go, who is really important to you, what is really important to you.

I encourage everyone to take this season to contemplate on their life, the things around them, the people around them. Put yourself in their shoes. Think about the shoes you used to walk around in. Think about what shoes you want to be walking in in the future, and what paths you want them to be walking on.
