Rough Drafts Top Tips for Loglines
- Just because it is written on the internet doesn’t make it right.
- Don’t get it Write, get it Ritten.
- Yes, a logline needs to be short, but your first drafts don’t have to be, get all the information down and then edit.
- It’s not just words, it's language. In the Jaw's logline it is not a ‘big’ shark it's a ‘Gigantic’ shark, he paints a different picture. Don’t have your serial killer ‘Waste time’, have them ‘Kill time’.
- Let the reader fill in the blanks, suggestion is sometimes as good as telling.
- I keep reading ‘Don’t give away too much’, I would say give them everything that gets them reading your script.
- The logline / Word-Trailer has one job, get the reader interested.
- MAIN TIP — There is not one way to do this, and what ever works for you is the best way.
