President of the MacDowell Company in Weston, Massachusetts, Rob MacDowell has served the real estate industry for the past three decades and continues to manage his company with a hands-on approach. With a penchant for giving back to the community, Rob MacDowell also served as the visionary board president of the Rivers School, an independent preparatory school outside of Boston, donating his business acumen and support to its students and faculty.

Promoting itself as the opposite of a one-size-fits-all type of school, the Rivers School seeks to work with students one-on-one, and to acclimate to each young person’s unique learning style. While the attending middle and high school, students are put through rigorous academic programs to prepare them for college. Originally opened as an all boys school in 1915, today it is a co-ed facility that offers its high standards of learning to those motivated few who enroll.

With an average class size of just 12 students and a complete student population under 500, the Rivers School truly gives each young person a chance to shine. It offers over 35 different honors and AP courses, and is now known for its conservatory program, which supports talented musicians. Many of the students have won awards in writing, music, and academic excellence, and many graduates have gone on to prestigious schools including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.
