'We never compromise on quality and taste'
Zahid Nihari was founded in 1980 in a Sadr shop by Haji Bakhsh Elahi who moved from Delhi to Karachi after Partition. He named this shop after his son Haji Zahid Mian.
Zahid Nihari now has two branches. One restaurant is in Sadar itself while the other branch was opened in 2006 on Tariq Road, the city's famous bazaar. This 43-year-old work is now being handled by Haji Bakhsh Elahi's grandsons, Abu Bakr and Ammar.
He expressed his happiness on the inclusion of Zahid Nihari in the list of Test Atlas and while explaining the secret of his success, he said, "We have never compromised on quality and taste."
Abu Bakr, the owner of Zahid Nihari, said that the spices, meat, etc. are all good and of the best quality. We also buy spices and meat ourselves, we even cook our own nahari.
"Lahore people also take tin packs from here"
Whether it's breakfast time or lunch and dinner time, Zahid Nihari is packed with customers and the restaurant staff does their job skillfully even in this hustle and bustle.
According to Abu Bakr, around forty workers work in three shifts at the Tariq Road branch alone. In some kitchens and in some restaurants, they are busy with their own responsibilities such as serving, serving, dishwashing and serving.
