The day I was born on has absolutely bearing on who I am

Have you ever been talking to someone and they stop and say it makes so much sense that you said that you’re such a Sagittarius. Wtf? I am a human, who has had an individual life experience, in a location (or locations if you move), where my parents had an effect on me, and my interactions with the people in the area that I lived in had an effect on me and the advertising I have seen, etc. But in no way, shape or form is my personality dictated by the position of the planets on the day I was born.

Let me delve into this a little deeper. According to Astrology this is a very accruate description of me. I had to enter: my name, place of birth, date of birth, what time I was born, sex. This is a lot of data points that they have collected so it should be pretty accurate.

Sun in Cancer natives have a strong survival instinct. They are protective of those they care about, and of themselves too. They are often quite reticent about sharing their inner selves to the rest of the world, and are often caught up in reminisce. Cancers have a reputation for moodiness, although this trait is most evident when the Moon is in Cancer. Cancer needs roots. They resist change to an extent, and concern themselves about being secure and safe in most everything they do. Cancers can be quite intrigued by objects with history attached to them — antiques, photos, souvenirs, and the like.

He weighs words carefully and is tenacious. A calm and discreet nature, tender, thoughtful, sensitive and impressionable.

Weaknesses: He is humble, timid, changeable, indecisive, lazy, over-sensitive. Easily influenced by the family and sometimes manipulative.

Let me work through this point by point.

Sun in Cancer natives have a strong survival instinct. I should fucking hope so, I hope that everyone has a strong survival instinct. It is in your 100% interest to spread your genetic material and continue your code into the future. If you make the choice not to you are condemning your code. I am not making a judgement, it is a simple fact, no procreation and YOUR code dies with you. But it is your choice.

They are protective of those they care about, and of themselves too. Again this is not something that is related to where the planets were on the day you were born, it has everything to do with the fact that you want those people to be able to spread their DNA, and yours too. I would say that N=1 or very approximate (except the ones who are interested in meth) in the system that parents would be protective of their offspring because they care about them. If you someone fucks with me my brother who is not a Cancer would most definitely be protective of me. I know this because he took a pretty good beating when someone put a cigarette out on my face at a party.

They are often quite reticent about sharing their inner selves to the rest of the world, and are often caught up in reminisce. Here I am sharing myself with the whole world. I do my best not to reminisce because if I waste away in the past I cannot be where my feet are, and I end up depressed at the things that didn’t go right in my life.

Cancers have a reputation for moodiness, although this trait is most evident when the Moon is in Cancer. I do have a reputation for moodiness, it comes when I haven’t eaten enough or if you take chocolate, sex or sleep away from me. They are spot on that I am moody, but it happens all that time. By the way, don’t take chocolate away from me. You might lose your arm.

Cancer needs roots. This is true for every single human in a way, and also not true. We all would like to know where we come from at times in our lives. We also may want to completely distance ourselves from our roots depending on the situations and life experiences we have had in life. I refuse to buy a house because I don’t want to be tied down, I want to travel and if this is my chart, and it is. They are dead fucking wrong that I NEED roots.

They resist change to an extent, and concern themselves about being secure and safe in most everything they do. This is one of my favourite generalizations in my chart. When you are trying to build a solid case and you use phrases such as “to an extent” and “in most everything” you are going to lose me right away. Quit distancing yourself from saying what you mean by couching it in exculpatory words. I particularly hate when people are making a point and they don’t want people to hate them so they say “well I think…” Say what you want to say we are clear that it is your thought, you don’t need to tell me this is your thought, I know you are trying to make it less awful that you think I am a horrible person by saying it.

Cancers can be quite intrigued by objects with history attached to them — antiques, photos, souvenirs, and the like. Nailed it, but so are most people.

He weighs words carefully and is tenacious. A calm and discreet nature, tender, thoughtful, sensitive and impressionable. Nope. I am as good at words as Donald Drumpf is good at words, I have good words.

Weaknesses: He is humble, timid, changeable, indecisive, lazy, over-sensitive. Easily influenced by the family and sometimes manipulative. Okay word by word with yes or no. Humble: no. Timid: only around really hot girls, but not for long. Changeable: Yes. Indecisive: only if I am really hungry, otherwise I love making choices because then I don’t have to worry about others making choices for me. Lazy: how far is that food from me, ugh you’re right I will just starve. Over-sensitive: you’re hurting my feelings by telling me this. Easily influenced by family: Ask my mom if I have a stubborn side, she will tell you, and she hates it. Sometimes Manipulative: Yes I live in the current world where our society has made it more acceptable to manipulate people than to be a caring person who gets used all the time. I hate it about myself and I am working on it everyday.

Now I know a lot of people who read this will say, well it is a guide and you can’t take it so specifically. Fine, then don’t ever say that something I do is as a result of the alignment of the planets. Don’t ascribe a system of pseudo-science to me which was created in times before we figured out that they Earth wasn’t the centre of the Universe (SORRY B.O.B. if you want to start a twitter battle I could really use the exposure, so bring it on!!!), that we are on an arm in a spiral galaxy that is in a binary dance with another galaxy that is rapidly approaching us(seriously in the distances of universe we are about to crash head on at 396,000 km/h or about 246062.992 MPH, basically it is gonna hurt). Or that those two galaxies are just two in a local cluster, which is part of the Virgo super cluster, in the observable universe. Not mention that if I had been born on mars the constellations that the entire practice was based on wouldn’t even exist because they are relative to the patterns our brains put together in an effort to understand things we didn’t have the ability to explain.

Around the same time of astrology, it was also thought that the position of the planets relative to the constellations was the reason that we got sick. It is actually the etymology of the word Influenza or the flu as we know it more commonly today. See it was thought that they planets were influencing our health and their position would cause outbreaks and epidemics of sickness. We later found out, thank Science, that the flu is transmitted as a viral infection and we can do things like clean our hands, and avoid others who are sick during their incubation period to avoid getting sick because the virus will runs it’s course, regardless of where the planets are in relation to our eyes on planet earth.

I know this blog is slightly different from the rest of what I have written. It comes from a conversation I recently had where a friend of mine thought it was fair to reduce me to something I have absolutely no control over. I found it presumptive that she thought it was okay to say this to me and I wanted to clear the air. When she reads this she will laugh and probably say, that is such a Cancerian thing to do, but at least I can sleep knowing that this human, born in July doesn’t have to be pigeon holed, and neither do you.

Thanks as always for reading.
