Escape
“Escape”, she thought
As she sat on the edge of the terrace
With her feet dangling off the side.
“What does it even mean?”
“To break free” said the dictionary,
It sounded so good to her.
“What about the blood in my body?” she thought.
Locked inside her arteries and veins,
It runs all the time.
“It might want to escape too,” she thought.
“Drain out, drop by drop.”
God knew she wanted to!
But people loved her,
And she loved them.
What would she even tell them?
She felt stuck, like she couldn’t breathe.
She wanted to walk out of her life,
And get lost in a faceless crowd.
But the people who loved her,
They would never get it,
And she would never get her escape.
