Rupie Partners with Playcrafting on Global Game Jam 2019
At Rupie, we are building a platform to create more opportunities for game engineers, artists, voice-over actors, and other industry professionals to connect with studios and each other. Video game development operates in an increasingly distributed fashion, bringing together talent from all regions and walks of life. With this growth of a truly global workforce, Rupie aims to be the connective tissue that binds it all.
This is why we are thrilled to announce a partnership with Playcrafting — one of the largest communities of game creators in the US — and Global Game Jam — the biggest global game jam site in the US: two organizations that share Rupie’s developer-first approach to the game dev community. Rupie will serve as the project/team management platform for Global Game Jam 2019, which takes place Friday, January 25 through Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Microsoft located at 11 Times Square, New York, NY 10036.
“Playcrafting is all about providing unique opportunities for our amazing community of game creators — established and aspiring — to learn, grow and connect to move our industry forward. Last year, Playcrafting had the biggest Global Game Jam site in the U.S. and the second largest in the world with over 500 jammers and 1,200 attendees,” says Dan Butchko, Playcrafting Founder and CEO.
“ Rupie continues to innovate, creating new ways for developers to access to talent, productivity tools, and guidance to bring new games to market. We’re proud to partner with their amazing team to impact the next generation of game developers during what’s sure to be an epic weekend.”
Through our collective vision of supporting distributed game development a growing trend, Rupie could not be more excited to join Playcrafting and GGJ to streamline what is arguably the largest game development event of the year.
Rupie will support and amplify GGJ 2019 in a number of exciting ways:
- Track individual game progress with tools to catalog and visualize game development progress
- Simplify deployment for Global Game Jam + future events
- Align teams with specific game development “plans” to leverage Playcrafting’s expert knowledge of game development best practices
After GGJ is over, individual participants and their teams will have the opportunity to continue working on their game, create relevant jobs, and eventually publish projects.
