The Kurds are going to eventually get their semi-autonomous zone in Syria as in Iraq. They have spilled to much blood protecting refugees and persecuted minorities to go back to the status quo.

Turkey can either be a part of the solution and prevent the now inevitable battle for the partition of Turkey into Turkmen and Kurdish areas, or help the Syrian Kurds and keep them neutral, like Iraqi-Kurdistan, to Turkey’s own Kurdish sovereignty problems. The Iraqi Kurds being neutral/ambivalent has been a godsend for Turkey’s simmering civil war, but that could change quickly by them targeting the freedom fighters in Syria.
