Silicon Valley, situated in the San Francisco Bay Area, is renowned for its world class high-tech companies and thousands of growing startup companies. Silicon Valley is known as an “Innovation Hub”, which means it is a social community that fosters technological trends, innovation, and industry-specific insights. This Innovation hub is essential for the growth of the tech industry as it condenses some of the largest companies along with the small startup companies to allow for collaboration and growth in one area. Here, decision makers can meet and brainstorm with scientists and business experts while also discussing complex business challenges.

In this blogpost, I will share some examples of world-class tech companies that are situated in Silicon Valley then talk about another innovation hub within Silicon Valley that helps foster new innovations and collaboration between industry professionals called, “The Silicon Valley Innovation Centre” (SVIC)

As stated earlier, Silicon Valley has gained the reputation of the world’s best Innovation Hub because it has birthed the largest tech companies in the world.

Some examples of large tech companies within Silicon Valley are:

Apple

Apple designs, manufactures and sells mobile devices, personal computers and digital music players, and it also sells numerous related software, services like networking solutions, digital content and applications. They are known for constantly innovating and for their ability to revolutionize the tech industry for consumers and businesses. Some examples are a fully touch-controlled phone, the creation of iTunes which changed how users buy and store their music, and their unique marketing strategies which focused on personalization through their devices.

Google is the most successful Internet search engine in the world. Google has an enormous footprint in the tech industry, known best for their search engine and multiple services like online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, software and hardware. Google continues to innovate the industry with their new services that allow users to continually organize and maximize themselves through their services.

Facebook

Facebook is arguably the world’s most successful social network company. Facebook was launched in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg as a college social networking website. The company hosts billions of users and generates massive amounts of data every day, making Facebook an highly useful service. The massive scale of the company has allowed it to offer highly targeted advertising, resulting in billions of dollars in annual revenue.

The Silicon Valley Innovation Centre (SVIC) can be seen as an Innovation Hub within an Innovation Hub. SVIC fosters innovation by creating a space where industry professionals, large corporations, and startup companies can work and collaborate to create new and exciting products/services. SVIC does this through: executive programs, conferences, speaker panels and accelerated programs. All these services provided allow professionals to become more informed about growing trends in the Industry and allow for more in-depth research and collaboration.
