I truly enjoyed your article but respectfully disagree. I’ve been labeled crazy much of my life and have a truckload of inpatient and outpatient documentation to corroborate the self and other assertions ( not so much self anymore).
As a man in this culture, I’ve been cut zero slack and given zero empathy. I’m the man. I must stand and push forward. Those times when I couldn’t, I was trampled on by women who are inherently attracted to projections of strength and actual alphas who sense weakness and use it to their advantage.
There is no glory in being labeled mentally ill or crazy or different or weird as a man. I’m 230lbs, can bench press 250lbs, can swim laps for 20 to 30 minutes, and can hold my own in most any situation. Yet, I’ve been fully chewed up and spit out several times during my lifetime, sometimes by others. I’m pretty certain this wouldn’t happen to you.
This culture goes light on insubordinate, reckless, free-wheeling women. The converse is true of its men. The reason men write about their experiences is because it is often their only therapeutic outlet and means of expression. Further, there are countless women who’ve garnered acclaim for their writings.
