One thing I absoultely love in life is the concept of supply and demand. And what I mean be the market is the buying and selling of goods. My economics professor said something to us that I will share with you:

“There’s no such thing as a free lunch”

Everything that we do, every action, etc. all revolves around the same concept. That to get something, you’re giving something up. If someone buys you lunch, you’re giving up what ever you would be doing in that time frame that you are eating. You are trading time for food (or selling your time to get a paid for lunch from your friend). So although most of you believe your lunch is free, in my eyes you are still giving up something.

And ususally the thing your giving up, doesn’t bring you as much value which is why you chose to go to lunch instead of clean the house.

The same concept applies to the way we buy and sell stuff. For instance, when you purchase that shirt for $15, at that time you are giving up everything you could be spending that $15 on because you are seeing more value in the shirt at that moment in time.

The point I’m trying to make is this: Every action you or anyone takes is bringing them some kind of value/pleasure whether it be now or in the future. So next time someone asks you to lunch, think of all the other things you could be doing and go eat!
