What is it Worth?

an attempt to live different

I’m a high school history teacher, with a little entrepreneur that wants to get out. I love working with students that are driven to get better. Feeling like I wasn’t having the impact I hoped for, I started to wander. I started looking for other opportunities. I had a hard time finding a job that would have an impact on people’s lives like teaching. I knew that there could be more. I knew that I could have a greater impact on more people, and I knew I wanted to. I found coaching. Not consulting coaching, where I’m the expert and I tell you how to be awesome, but coaching where we discover together, your expertise and you design the path of your life.

So, I did some training, some learning and I launched a business called Narrow Gate Coaching. The goal of my business is to serve people and help them start living the life they envision. I wanted my business to be different, I wanted to stand out. I’m passionate about seeing people reach their goals and being apart of that. I enjoy doing work that matters.

The problem becomes how can I stand out, how can I be different? This was not an easy task. There are thousands of people out there trying to build a platform and build a business that will get noticed. What was going to be my different?

As I thought about my true goal, it was to serve. I don’t need to make a ton of money, all though that would be a bonus. I want to serve, so I decided to allow my clients to choose their own price. My clients in 2014 can choose how much they believe coaching is worth to them and that is what they pay.

Now, will it work? Will it gain traction? Will people see it as an opportunity or a desperate plea to get a business off the ground? I hope I can come off as genuine. I hope you and others see this as an opportunity. Only time will tell.
