Lesson Learned
Daniel Tunkelang

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve been approached a couple of times for stuff like this and right now I just don’t have the interest. I had a call with one startup and the founder seemed legit. I was to be a paid advisor and consultant with salary and stock. Bells started to go off in my head. It took several weeks to get the paperwork done, there was no mention of equity and it was very crudely drawn up like a template. I let them know I wouldn’t be going any further and they almost seemed glad. I shy away from startups for the most part because there is just too much weirdness and too much risk. There’s only a handful of startups I’d consider working with or for and most of them are in the late stages.
