On August 30, 2018, the Co-Chairpersons of Shoulder to Shoulder sent a letter to Mr. Mark Hoplamazian, President and CEO of Hyatt Hotels, asking the company to refrain from hosting a conference for the anti-Muslim hate group ACT for America. While that particular conference did proceed as planned, Mr. Hoplamazian issued a statement last week stating that Hyatt Hotels will no longer host hate groups.

We, the Executive Committee of Shoulder to Shoulder, applaud this move by Mr. Hoplamazian, which not only demonstrates Hyatt’s commitment to inclusion, but also challenges other corporations to draw a firm line against hate. The member faith groups of Shoulder to Shoulder, which include Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim institutions, are working together to advance a society that espouses dignity and respect for all people, and we applaud the move by Hyatt Hotels to further these ideals.

Founded in November 2010, Shoulder-to-Shoulder is an interfaith organization dedicated to ending anti-Muslim sentiment by strengthening the voice of freedom and peace.
