President Trump: The First Six Months

Appointed an Honourable Supreme Court Justice
Every president does this — he only made a nomination. Most of the work was done by his aids. Choose a Conservative candidate, no surprises.
Withdrew from the Corrupt TPP Agreement
“Corrupt” is a subjective opinion, withdrawing from something he didn’t understand wasn’t hard. Failure since US wants to export energy (being the worlds biggest producer). Japan agreed to the TPP and depends on foreign coal and oil — something DT is working on opening the new mines. It was a multi-lateral agreement meaning less time spent negotiating and more time trading — if DT so confident America isn’t getting a good deal but should be he could be working towards a Preferential Trade Agreement.
Eliminated Job Killing Regulations
This doesn’t specify what they were, how many or what they related to. Neither does it justify how they “killed jobs”.
Opened First New Coal Mine in Decades
Is this really positive considering how many people die from coal related activities? 3,200 coal related deaths in 2010. The poor are really at a disadvantage with this one and companies don’t always clean up the mess it causes, polluting the local community that enables it to operate.
Will Continue Keystone and Dakota Energy Pipelines
Considering a burst of these could contaminate the areas they travel through (including an aquifer that supplies water to 8 states) and the fact it took 2 presidents, 3 years to get some funding to Flint to help with the lead contamination problem was this really a wise decision? Prevention is better than the cure.
Selling American Made Energy to Poland
Was this to create diversity of supply in Europe and remove power from the Russians or could it have been linked to the arms sale he also made?
Pulled Out of Job Killing Paris Environmental Accord
That’s good — so you’ll all be able to afford your expensive healthcare premiums after environmental protection is deregulated. The rise in fossil fuels will increase coal-related deaths (13,200 in 2010) not to mention the effects of global warming and rising water levels on the coasts of America.
Signed Over 13 Congressional Review Acts
Doesn’t specify which regulations or the impact of these reviews. Thanks to Bill Clinton for this Act.
Worked with Congress to pass 28 New Laws
Hard to evaluate these when they’re not stated.
Signed 30 Executive Orders
See above.
Eliminating Many Corrupt Executive Orders Created By Obama
Firstly, I’m not sure Trump understands the definition of the word “corrupt”. Secondly, not stated. Hard to evaluate what he’s actually done when the original question was “What good things has he done?”
Has Signed 40 New Bills Into Law
Again, hard to evaluate what “good” this has done or even if this is the correct amount when there’s no source for this information.
Won 4 Out of 4 Special Election Wins
So far it’s 4 out of ? because special elections will occur throughout the term. This one has to wait to be evaluated but so far a 100% success rate by his candidates — not the man himself.
Ending the “Catch and Release” Immigration Policy
Analysis shows ICE are going beyond capturing criminals — this could be part of a wider scheme to stop immigration all together which is bad for US society. Diversity bring advantages including skills to the country hence why H-2B visa bans were lifted. Foreign workers are willing to do lower income jobs (could by why Mar-a-Lago club just requested 70-odd just yesterday). Profiteering from illegal work isn’t new to the Trump family with Melenia working in the States before she had the appropriate visa.
Reduced Illegal Boarder Crossings “%73” [sic]
How is this possibly anything to do with Trump? He hasn’t built that “yuge” wall yet. There’s no source to this percentage or date specified in regards to this measurement. This would have been better stated as a number of illegal arrests for attempted crossing as this is simply a relative change but no base line specified.
100 million for Flint
Wasn’t just Trump, took three years and Obama too to push through funding.
All of the things he’s done for Vets
Increasing funds, rebuilding America’s military and support for Troops. If he really respects and cares about Vets is that why did he foul mouth McCain? This is a man who dodged the draft. He has no ideological stand point on this matter he just knows it will gain popularity with racist bigots who also believe America is under attack and needs…
“Hostile Nation Travel Ban”
Even American courts say it’s unfounded. It’s also ineffective in that people with relative can still travel to the US — it doesn’t even perform it’s function. People who want to come to the US to perform business or study still can. Considering how much money ISIS have, how is this stopping anyone with negative intentions again the US? The policy was impossible from the start.
“Pulled Billions in Funding from the United Nations”
The above point is insane when you consider Trump did t his— the organisation working to maintain security across multiple countries.
“Federal Debt Reduced by $100 billion”
No source, no context. It could have dropped for one day because of an admin re-juggle or it might simply have been made up by the unstated person who created the image.
“Job Creation Increasing at an Incredible Rate”
Subjective judgement, what do you classify as an “incredible rate”? No evidence to back the claim up.
“Introduced the Tax Reformation Plan to Help Hard Working Americans”
Reduces Tax, reduces export rates but increases import rates. The businesses won’t take this hit, consumers goods prices will increase.
“Buy American, Hire American” Initiative
Trump family manufacture their clothing lines abroad. As big business themselves they’re benefiting from things they’re criticising big business for. Hypocritical- also how is this combating the fact most US jobs are lost to automation/technology, not trade? Trump Administration doesn’t think Artificial Intelligence is worth creating policies about.
“National Unemployment is at a 16 year low”
But employment opportunities are growing slower than predicted. The unemployment rate is higher for Caucasians compared to African Americans and Hispanics — that indicated inequality in access to education, re-skilling or hire bias.
“Greatly Increased Consumer Confidence”
But not growing consistently; volatility makes in unpredictable. This one could go either way especially as it looks like interest rates might rise which means consumers wallets will be squeezed.
“Strengthened Relations with the UK, China, Russia and Japan”
UK had to delay Trumps proposed state visit until 2018 because the government couldn’t guarantee there wouldn’t be more protests up and down the country after his election in January; China — Trade agreement with Rice but this has been on the cards for a while but it might have been so damn bump because of the proposed steel import tariffs which might break WTO trade agreements; Japan — cutting the TPP was a mistake as the US wants to export energy and Japan relies on imports for that so trade will have more barriers relative to if the trade agreement progressed; Russia — well that’s under investigation for corruption so perhaps a little too strong!
“Freed Humanitarian Workers in Egypt”
This was half American, half Egyptian Aya Hijazi I assume however no names were stated. We’re not clear on how Trump did it with Spicer only saying Trump engaged behind the scenes. Another lack of transparency on the Presidents part so it’s hard to evaluate if this was a positive thing yet when the international stance is generally to not exchange/promise anything for those imprisoned. Obviously a positive outcome for Aya Hijazi though.
“Syrian Cease Fire with Russia and Jordan”
Strengthens Russian’s position which is worrying considering the investigations in to Russian-US relations and Russia’s alliance with Assad. US states it wants to focus on illuminating ISIS but ISIS possibly has links to Assad. Not great for democracy in the Middle East.
“Cracking down on ISIS and North Korea”
ISIS (above). As far as NK goes the US is relying heavily on China to help it control and monitor their neighbour. China seems to want stability — it’s supported NK since the split of Korea when the US backed the South. It’s not going to switch alliances quickly however it does hold power over NK as it’s their main trade partner. US also managed to install an anti-missile defence system in SK which was controversial but the South also want to renegotiate their decade old trade deal with the US. Trump delared his “patience was over” with NK but there’s really nothing he can do without accidentally starting WW3 — he’s also pulled that funding with the U.N. who help to deal with matters like these. So he hasn’t got very far with this “cracking down” as NK as still appear to be doing missile tests and whatever else they want.
“Ending tax payer funding for abortion”
Putting the US back in to third world conditions. Low income women and children subsequently born as a result of this reduced ability to access abortions will mean children start life with a handicap. Mothers more likely to be low skilled with low income leading to reduced quality of life in comparison to their peers.
“Protected Religious Liberties for All Americans”
Spicey said the travel ban on Muslims but the words came out of DT’s mouth so it’s not for ALL Americans.
“Re-Established National Space Council”
The council still doesn’t have a NASA admin, Lightfoot is acting. This is the longest acting Admin in history of the NSC.
