Data Breach in JPMorgan Accounts Has Customers Uneasy.. To Say the Least

The cyberattack on JP Morgan Chase this summer has reached it’s crisis point as new details come to the surface. This data breach compromised customer information in over 76 million households and over 7 million small businesses. The customer data that was stolen included customer names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This information was only stolen from customers that use the Chase website and mobile app however. This new information adds to the already heightened customer concerns of identity theft and fraud. Banks are supposed to have ultimate protection over this information, and it is frightening, to say the least, that this information can be hacked. It is not clear whether or not JP Morgan Chase employees know who is behind the hacking. As the largest bank, Chase plans to spend millions annually in cybersecurity and hire thousands of new employees in that department.
