Jed York moved the team to Santa Clara because that’s where he could get a stadium built. It’s really that simple. The NFL is about making money and they are great at it. The brand name The SF 49er’s is equally worth millions in marketing. There would never be a name change unless the moved 49er’s to LA for example…(see The Oakland-LA Raiders).

I feel the 49er fans pain. I grew up in Orange County and the Angels name change is still painful to anyone who’s been long time fans of team. My Dad and Uncle refuse to call them the Los Angeles Angels of Anheim.

The NFL loves their fans but they love the dollars more. 45 minutes and hour it does matter. If they build it we will come. And we will definitely pay for it.
