SDDP Statement on Noem Transition Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota Democratic Party Executive Director Sam Parkinson released the following statement in response to the announcement of Governor-elect Kristi Noem’s transition team:

“Kristi Noem ran for governor pledging to clean up Pierre. Now, after her narrow win, she has named a long-time lobbyist as the head of her transition team — a clear indication that once again, she has no intention of living up to the promises she made to the people of South Dakota to get elected, and instead plans to give the special interests even more power in our state government. It is unfortunate that Governor-elect Noem wants to bring a Washington-style swamp run by lobbyists to Pierre, but Democrats will do everything we can to reduce the power of special interests in Pierre, and make sure our state government works for everyone, not just big-money special interests.”
