‘London Mums Network’ Speaker Interview Ruth Kudzi — Business Coach

At our last event we were fortunate enough to book an inspiring speaker and Business Coach @RuthKudzicoach. Ruth came along with a few business tips and her take on the importance of setting the foundations of your business before you set up. Just before she left I managed to grab a few minutes of Ruth’s time to ask her a few questions:

What is your career background?

I started off working in recruitment and executive search but quickly released that money wasn’t my biggest driver. I then retrained as a teacher and spent 12 years working in inner city schools in London, the last 5 years as a Senior leader.

How did that change after having a baby?

After my first child I went back to work full time and it was tough, I was juggling looking after my child with late nights and early mornings.

Where did your new business idea come from?

I first had coaching 5 ½ years ago as part of my involvement in a program training the Head teachers of the future. I found it really transformational and went on to coach other senior leaders as part of the program. I also started using more of a coaching style in my role. When I became pregnant with my first child I started to re-train as a coach and started to coach people on a pro-bono basis.

How did you move from the idea to business?

It took me over 2 years to do but I made sure I completed the qualifications whilst working, I then started coaching people on a pro-bono basis to build up my experience and skills. When I found out I was pregnant again I knew I had to do something so I got a business coach to help me with my mindset and building up my business. I started up in April 2016.

What’s your USP?

I work with mums to create the work / life balance they require by developing their confidence to build their own businesses or create the careers they want.

What customers are you aiming for?

Mums who want a better work / life balance and to change careers / start up their businesses

What’s your biggest barrier so far?

IT ! I am clueless and have spent many an hour wanting to throw my laptop out of the window. I now have a wonderful VA who helps me (does it all) with this as it is not something I am good at or enjoy so no point

Who inspires you?

Coaching wise I love Emily Williams, brand wise a lady called Stephanie Nickolich who is the most amazing guru on sales funnels and Facebook ads (don’t worry if you don’t know what they are — I didn’t either in April this year)

What do you hope for your future?

I want to create coaching programs that are accessible for as many women as possible both online and face to face so I can help mums create their dream careers. I want to have an influence on as many women as possible and make them realise they can do it too.
