Meet Lloyd, Senior Order Builder
Food Banker Spotlight

What does a typical day at the Food Bank look like for you?
Well at 3a.m., I get my early morning workout. As I build orders, the job is so physical, it allows me to become physically fit. If you don’t believe me, feel my muscles!
What’s your favorite thing about working at the Food Bank?
Knowing that what I’m doing is going to help an individual or family somewhere in San Francisco have a better day.
Have you been personally impacted by your experience at the Food Bank?
More than 10 years ago I had to receive public assistance after falling on hard times. Due to loss of employment, I was referred to the Food Bank to do workfare.* 10 years later, I’m still here.
What motivates you to do what you do?
First of all, I enjoy the thought of helping others. It’s a very unselfish job.
Second, it allows me an income where I am able to take care of me and my loved ones.
What’s something people might not know about you?
At 2a.m., I go around certain areas of the city and feed homeless animals before I come to work. I also volunteer at one of our pantries on Saturdays.
Tell us your best joke.
What’s big, brown and rhymes with bones?
Lloyd Jones
