Meet Rodney, Food Bank Superstar

Delivering a Dose of Kindness

Rodney Randolph has been a volunteer and participant with the Sunnydale Food Pantry for seven years. A few years ago, Rodney noticed that there was a growing number of elderly and disabled neighbors who weren’t able to get to the pantry to pick up groceries. Pantry staff were managing more deliveries than they could handle, and he saw a need that he could help fill.

Initially, Rodney offered to deliver groceries to a senior on his way home. Over time, his commitment has grown into multiple deliveries to individuals throughout his neighborhood.

“I really care about the people,” he shares. It’s those relationships that have inspired Rodney to continue his work. He recalls a senior who couldn’t leave her home to get food. Rodney told her, “I’m going to bring your box of groceries every Tuesday.” It’s now been two years and Rodney hasn’t missed a delivery.

His motivation for action is an inspiration to us all. Rodney simply says, “I saw she needed help.”
