Thought: A Building Block

If you want to make something a reality, the first step is to think about how you can make it so.

Planning is essential to making anything happen. As input, it requires nothing more than active time and thought. As output, it provides a framework around which you can direct your effort to ensure you’re working in a direction [the ‘right’ direction sounded too prescriptive].

When people tell me their life goals, I ask how they plan to get there [at least I like to think I do]. This is how I judge whether this ‘goal’ is actually a goal or something they fancy dreaming about.

With no scaffolding of thought to build on, you’re relinquishing control of your progress vector and, indirectly, releasing it of its responsibility to bring you closer to your goal.

To put it simply: Without a plan, you’re waiting for your dreams to fall from the sky into your lap.
