If the man on the other end of the telephone was born to and raised by Lang Hancock he probably would have grown into a mining magnate like Gina Rinehart. Would he have been a ‘bad guy’?
‘Us’ versus ‘Them’ — How Greenpeace lost my support
Cameron Elliott

Excellent point. The lottery of which family we are born into is something often overlooked, and our passions are often crafted to best fit our individual contexts. It is a shame Greenpeace were still using this approach, as I believe it’s quite ineffective on the majority of people — otherwise more would be out fighting for such causes. It is simply easier to ignore them.

So what are the alternatives? I would be interested to hear people’s experiences, and if any have success campaigning with joy and charm as their main weapons.
