What Twitter Should Do Next (Part 2)

Interesting take. As a fairly new user and investor in TWTR, I still ask myself why people use the Twitter platform. For comparison, I have a clear reason to log onto Facebook, to checkup on friends and acquaintances.

If I was to use the polling feature on Twitter I would give the follow options of why you use the platform 1. simply out of habit 2. the challenge of developing a following 3. for current news 4. to follow influential people 5. to follow interests.

Personally, I am interested in news and interests. With so many news sources, Twitter is my least favorite. I spend more time clicking the unknown rather than simply reading headlines and scrolling if interested. Because of the firehose of information, following interests is way too difficult. Easier to go directly to the source.

As a non-power user, I would say what keeps me coming back to Twitter is the few Twitter friends and the minimal but somewhat satisfying engagement with them.

What I resent about Twitter is the 140 character limit. I like comments that have some depth. Obviously to read your comment I had to click a link. I have no link to click on. Is the point being only the influential have a voice?
