Hi Srinivas Rao,
Thanks for this post.
I liked the post and I already pressed green button for your post.
At my end, in India I follow the process too and i.e. reading book for more number of times.
I have my own cause and reason.
I wanted to learn, unlearn & relearn few concepts, characters, situations, etc. that I never understood correctly in first attempt. In turn, I read books (very selected) more number of times so that I understand the writer from his/her writing lens.
I learned about this concept (understanding & reading the book from writer’s lens) from Mr. Steven Covey’s book and i.e. 7 Habits.
In that book, writer wrote extra ordinary preface of 31 odd pages. I read that preface 7 times and since then I understood why it is important to read only selected books and that too number of times.
Prior to this book, I read Godfather book for than 100 times since I was not able to get connected with the book and with the story emotionally as I was born and brought up in India.
I also saw all 3 parts of Godfather for 100+ times.
By each reading and by each watching, I started learning (unlearning & relearning) about the book and about the film.
I applied the same method when I read The Checklist Manifesto book and Thinking Fast & Slow book.
I applied the same method for many Marathi language books that are extraordinary and all these books changed my life, my perspective about myself and about people around. One of them is Geeta Rahasya ~ Secret of Geeta ~ Written by Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. It is around 900++ pages.
I applied the same method when I read Mahanayak means Great Leader book written on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Writer is Mr. Vishwas Patil. He Is IAS Officer in Govt. of Maharashtra. This book he wrote it after 20 years of research.
I am resharing your post again.
Best regards,
This is Phadke SMN from India.
