Why I became freelancer?

I became freelancer since FY 1995. I never wanted. I mean it. I had no idea about it. I had no clue about benefits, pains, hurdles, challenges, obstacles, etc.

I was enjoying great salary, great benefits, great perks, great respect, great position, great medicine benefits, and one can name it. One can dream too.

However, it was complete illusion inside. I mean it.

“All that glitters is not gold” famous saying was happening within the business, with people and me too.”

I (and many good Indians associated with the business. We all had dreams. We all wanted to do something good, better & great in profession.) suffered a lot because of politics that was played at higher management level in India and by Indians.

It directly affected on all people (myself too) who were keen to do something great for the business firm to whom we all were serving.

We were producing main frame computers, IBM compatible computers, line printers and dot matrix printers in collaboration with Japanese business firm.

I was sick & tired of religious politics + castism politics played by Indians working in multinational company for Indians.

I never understood “why” reason behind.

I could not digest (understood too) the concept of discussions within business about religion, celebration of religious festivals, following religious processes in business, talking about cast, calling people in business by cast, discussing about cast + castism, talking about political parties, talking about political people, talking about films, talking about filmy people + gossips, talking about news published in printed Indian newspapers, news heard on Indian radio stations, news displayed on Indian television news channels, Indian TV serials being displayed on Indian television channels, calling people by their mother language of communication, taunting people about their dressing style, talking about their hair style, talking about what they eat, how they eat, what they drink, what they do not, what they bring in their lunch box, what foot ware they ware and above all playing selfish + useless + meaningless + absurd politics on all attributes mentioned above.

I felt none of the above got any direct or indirect role in business.

We were hired in business so that we all could win more and more customers. We could serve each customer by supplying world class products on time or before. We could serve each customer post sales. We could earn AMC’s for each product and so on.

Sadly we (people of my thinking) had no control on people who were part of this game.

Point to be noted while reading above expression of thoughts.

I never studied Indian religion, Indian cast system, Indian religious festivals, Indian films, Indian drama, Indian politics, Indian political parties and Indian politics in my entire education journey namely from 1st standard to 4th, then 5th standard till 12th and then 2 years of diploma.

None. I mean it.

Any reader in India and outside India can validate education syllabus.

In turn I had no voice, no knowledge, no inclination, no interest, no information and no education at all about all the attributes as mentioned above. I was unbiased about every attributes mentioned above. I had no opinion and I had no capability for judging anyone and everyone. I was uneducated & illiterate about all the attributes mentioned above and I am uneducated & illiterate today too.

I was always keen to know what is task in hand and how to complete that task in hand in shortest period of time.

Above all on time or before time.

My approach to task in hand was like blinker horse (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blinkers_(horse_tack) )

I also thank to Mahabharat Story of Arjun that I heard (in childhood) from my mother and that story impressed me a lot to work like blinker horse on every task in hand.

Story goes like this

Arjuna’s skill in archery proved to have an unlikely utility when it won him the hand of Draupadi, his first wife. Draupadi was the daughter of Drupada, king of Panchala, who held a contest for the purpose of choosing a suitable match for his daughter. Contestants were required to string a heavy bow and then use it to hit the eye of a wooden fish rotating above a pool of water. They were allowed to take aim at the eye of the fish only by looking at its reflection in the pool of water.

I always wanted to achieve the highest and best excellence in the (given) task in hand and I was ready + prepared to learn everything about it so that I could complete the task on time or before time. My salary and incentive was directly linked to the task in hand and completion of task in hand.

However, every task in hand given to me by higher authorities (so called managers) suffered a lot (in terms of actual deliverables within stipulated time frame) because of (unprofessional) people around.

Most of them (and not all) were part of that game.

My task in hand was directly dependent on others.

I was like parasite on others and I actually became parasite.

बांडगूळ is translation of parasite in Marathi language.

I always hated being parasite. Back in FY 1998 I wrote poem too on parasite.

In turn, I started calling them (not all but some) as useless + meaningless + entertaining Indians.

One day out of frustration I took (instant) decision (5 June 1995) to resign from the company and I became freelancer.

The best thing which happened with me next day (6th June, 1995) was! I was free.

I was on my own.

I was captain of my own soul and my own fate.

I will never forget 6th June, 1995.

I felt like I am out prison after long long time.

I also felt that: -

• I could become more accountable and more responsible for the task in hand that was designated to me as freelancer.
• I could track each task (given it to me by business owner) in systematic way and the way I wanted to capture various attributes of the task in hand completion and entire process.
• I could track the completion of task (given it to me by business owner) the way it is completed ~ whether it is happening on time, before time or after time.
• I could ask for and charge standard retention fees, award & punishment (all 3 from business owner) for the task completed before time, task completed in time and task completed after time respectively.
• I could complete the task in hand from anywhere where I will not get distracted by people around to whom I categorize as ~ some were useless, some were meaningless and most were entertainer.
• Somehow, I do not enjoy getting entertained free of cost and/or with pay from people around. I have different taste, point of view and perception.
• My entertainment happens when I am reading a book, when I am writing, when I am listening to inspirational person and when I am watching a film/drama (which is based on history, freedom war, humanity & legend individuals who changed the world) without any distractions ~ Specially sound pollution, thinking pollution plus thinking violence created by people around.
• I could bring more fresh + sophisticated ideas & automation tools to work smartly so that I could complete task in hand on time or before time and ask for more task.
• Completing every task in hand before time or on time ~ it was always passion.
• In addition, I could serve my age-old parents + other important family members namely wife, daughter, son, grandson & my age old unmarried uncle the way they wanted me to serve. I felt it is my morale duty (some reader may agree) to serve my parents whenever they asked for.
• I could spend daily time in polishing my skills and I could spend daily time in adding more skills within my body.
• While completing task in hand, I could take as many brakes as I want and/or I could complete the task across the day without taking any breaks.

21 years of being freelancer.

I have no regrets at all.

Yes! There are challenges. There are hurdles. There are pains. There are obstacles. There are stress situations.

No doubt it.

Nevertheless, all of them are manageable and controllable as they are directly under my control.

All above are everywhere. Be it in home, in society, in employment, in government, in politics, in political parties, in business, in nation and on planet. Therefore, there is nothing new about it.

However, none of them got any direct or indirect connection with religion + religious people + cast + castism affected people + useless + meaningless + entertaining people.

Note: In my freelancing model! I work on single project at a time and I devote my entire time (24 hours a day) for the project till the time project gets completed to its defined definition.

I do not take off (not even weekly off) when the project starts.

Once the project is completed, then I take break of 1 week or 2 weeks or a month and then I start my next project.

I learned about this concept (work on one project at a time) and about this methodology from Mr. Dustin Hoffman, Mr. Steven Spielberg and from Mr. Danny De Louis. I watched countless videos about all of them.

I track them. I adore them too.

They are inspirational and that is my point of view and my perception.
