Thanks Jen! I’m impressed and thank you for “owning” your status as a parent and entrepreneur. I’m trying to remember do the same. For example, being a parent and entrepreneur myself often means taking calls at home. Out of fear of sounding too “early stage” I used to try and pretend that I was at an office and hope that the person on the other end wouldn’t hear my son calling to me from the bathroom, knocking things over, or laughing. It became a ridiculous and impossible covert effort as I would put myself on mute, then hit unmute to talk, then mute again. All the while I was running from room to room, trying not to be in the same one as my son — who, of course, thought we were playing some sort of chase dad game. Finally I got the courage one day to start a call by mentioning that my 5 year old might be heard in the background. Instead of scorn at my “unprofessionalism”, I had one of my best calls. Right off the bat the caller jumped in to talk about their own children — instant relationship builder. Thanks Jen for the reminder!
