Now education for everyone, you are not behind!

Education is one of the most powerful weapons in fighting poverty. For the underprivileged people in India, education is perceived as a high-priced luxury. Our nation is facing many challenges as of today in the development of primary education. Thus, improving education is a critical area of investment.
Nowadays, due to a lot of initiatives taken by many NGOs, state governments, and central governments the underprivileged children are able to get access to quality education. Still, it is important for these organisations to think and implement some innovative ideas in the education camps to make them more effective than before.

Some of the useful techniques are mentioned below:

  • Focus on out of class learning by doing — set up different projects to explain the basic concepts. We should let them do things by hands, using material available in their locality.
  • Commonly they are malnutritioned and hence it’s important to feed them before they are taught. Deficiencies lead to shorter attention spans and inability to grasp. We should provide enough to compensate regular lack in diet.
  • Provide them with lots of simple books to read. This can help them develop a reading habit as well as improve a child’s imagination.
  • We can encourage them to play together with studying; this will make them look forward to playing. That way, you will ensure attendance and limited time span attention.
  • We should focus more on pictorially explaining and teaching problems. This can also include showing inspirational videos or kids movies for learning with some fun.
  • As, different children have different speeds, so we should only stress on completion of work and not on the speed.
  • We should always try to give some individual attention to children who are slow learners and in this way develop a good bond with them so that they can easily approach us for any problems.
  • A lot of kids would be facing some health issues, so it is important that preventive health care services are also provided as part of these camps to children and their families.
  • As these students lack social and soft skills and are less confident, so we have to work individually with them for developing these aspects also.
  • We need to maintain a separate report card tracking their progress on vital areas. This would help to target the needs of each individual student and also assess the overall effectiveness of these education camps.

Thus, if all of these ideas are executed properly, then we can make a huge difference in the lives of these underprivileged children. It all depends on our individual effort, passion, and determination to make this happen.
As the popular saying goes -“No one can impact a million lives, but each one of a million can impact one.
