- Help Wanted: Amazon to Host Job Fair for 50,000 Positions Amid Hiring Squeeze. About four-fifths of the positions are full-time jobs at the company’s warehouses. [WSJ]
- Facebook’s Profit and Revenue Surge, Despite Company Predictions of a Slowdown. Facebook reported $9.3 billion in revenue for the second quarter, up 45 percent from the same period last year. Profit rose to $3.9 billion, up 71 percent from last year, or $1.32 a share, exceeding Wall Street’s expectations of $1.12 a share on $9.2 billion in sales. [NY Times]
- eBay announces a visual search tool for mobile shoppers. Image search allows shoppers to take a picture, or select one saved on their smartphone, and enter it in eBay’s mobile search bar. That sends the marketplace on a quest to match the image to its 1.1 billion products and surface the most visually similar products on the search results page. [Digital Commerce 360]
- In the B2B eCommerce world, Distributor Genuine Parts Co. reports record sales. The diversified distributor, which sells through several e-commerce sites as well as physical outlets, yesterday said second-quarter sales grew 5% to a record $4.1 billion. [B2B eCommerce World]
- Amazon launches Prime Now services in Singapore. Prime Now will allow Singapore users to place orders for fast delivery on a variety of items, including beer, beverages, milk, eggs, fresh produce, dried goods, consumer electronics, toys and baby products. [CNBC]
