FonZo and his AKMG band at The Waiting Room

FonZo’s discography is impressive. He has proven over and over again, through his mixtapes, EPS and covers that he can rap better than your favourite.
About a year ago, when he quit his science degree at UWC to study sound at SAE, he formed a band/label called AKMG. All members met at SAE.
They released an 5-track EP titled Vol 1: Return of the Boss Don last year. It was impressive. I interviewed FonZo about it here. Since then, the AKMG camp hasn’t been resting. While working on Vol 2, which FonZo told me is due for a June release, members of the crew — FonZo and Katt Daddy — have been dropping some solo tracks. A video for FonZo’s “Truth”, one of such tracks, will be out anytime now.
About two months ago, I attended a show AKMG hosted at the Waiting Room on Long Street in Cape Town, where they were performing songs from Vol 1 and those loose tracks I mentioned above. It was a great show, it’s rare to witness a hip-hop band that’s fronted by rappers who know what they are doing in Cape Town.
I had my camera and captured some moments.
