Diary of Writing A Novel; Week 26

Having a work/creative life/life balance is important for my mental health.

Monday 28th

Instead of going straight to work this morning, I got off the bus halfway and did some writing.

It felt good to get some done and doing it by hand was nice too.

Then when I got home, I re-edited the piece about being sick. It still doesn’t quite say what I want it too though. I don’t want to complain about being ill but explore how it affects aspects of your personality and the path your life takes.

Friday 31st

What a great writery start to the week.

And then the week got sucked up into a vortex where not only did I not write. I didn’t even write this diary. I worked all week instead of writing. Not writing this diary is what I am most dissappointed about.

Admittedly some of that work was rewarding. I did a voice over. I love doing voice-overs. I enjoy using my one talent I don’t feel insecure about. I am not saying I am the world’s best but it is the thing I am best at.

I also did volunteer work at the prison again. I am not sure I am doing any good. I may be wasting my time. It is a long drive if I am not being a help.

Saturday 1st September

I am hoping to write today.

And maybe tomorrow.

I will certainly be reading and thinking and making notes and creating and being okay with the fact that while there is work available there is not as much time for writing but there is money.

I can hear the howl of the black dog again so I will also keep trying to balance work and money with creating, meditating and yoga.
