Cybertruck | Tesla
Tesla’s first-ever pickup truck, Cybertruck will most likely be a more prominent sign in 2021 with its abnormal shape and dystopian look. This tesla automobile could revolutionize the way people drive motor vehicles.
Take a look at some interesting facts about Elon Musk’s latest brainchild before we dive into it.
Power
Don’t let cyber trucks roar and industrialist design fool you. This is no ordinary pickup truck according to Musk the truck can move like a Lamborghini and tow like a Freightliner. According to the specifications put out by Tesla, the Cyber Truck will have an 800 horsepower engine and will be able to go from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds.
Not to mention that the truck can also tow up to 14,000 pounds a powerful vehicle. It will provide stiff competition to other trucks out in the market. It exactly differentiates Cyber Truck from the rest.
Exoskeleton
It’s a known fact that the Cyber Truck will share its stainless steel Exoskeleton with the starship spacecraft. The starship is designed to withstand both the hot and freezing temperatures that space has to offer. The 304 stainless steel alloy was initially selected due to its strength and durability. However, Musk later tweeted that some parts of the starship will include the 304L steel as it would be better suited to the temperature in space with the Cyber Truck.
Using the same material you can expect it to be sturdier and much more damage resistant from dents, corrosion, etc. than most trucks out there.
Interior Styling
Tesla has their own unique sense of style when it comes to interior design. And the Cyber Truck is no exception the blank dashboard and a small steering wheel coupled with the tablet interface. It gives the truck the trademark Tesla Aesthetic.
At first glance, the dashboard seems to be manufactured from some sort of marble but looks can be deceiving. Instead, it is actually made out of compressed paper not only does it cut costs but the paper-made dashboard also keeps in line with Tesla’s commitment towards sustainability.
BulletProof
As discussed above Tesla’s new Exoskeleton and how it will be made out of the material of the starship aircraft. So, it’s no surprise that the truck will be able to withstand 9mm ammunition. That is commonly used in both handguns and machine guns.
Musk even had design Chief Franz Von Holzhausen come on stage during the vehicle’s reveal and smash the Cyber Truck with a sledgehammer to prove a point. While most regular cars aren’t exactly bulletproof as Musk’s Cyber Truck is.
But why? Why would he want this truck to be bulletproof? Maybe this next point might be able to answer that question.
Inspirations From POP Culture
Musk has always made his love for Sci-Fi and Bond Films. He’s even gone as far as saying that Cyber Truck’s design was inspired partly by the Blade Runner Universe. If the event was an indication of Tesla’s intentions, it was pretty clear that they were going to market this product with a futuristic pickup truck. While many believe that this is all a marketing ploy.
Most sources would reveal that Musk has been inspired by Sci-Fi titles such as the Foundation Series and the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy besides books.
Elon also has great inspiration from a well-known video game titled by the name of Halo. He also tweeted that the Cyber Truck was inspired by the Warthog in Halo.
Makeshift Boat
When asked on Twitter if the Cyber Truck could cross streams, Musk responded by saying that the truck would even be able to float on water.
“A Tesla works as a boat for a short period of time, as an electric car has no intake or exhaust to block and battery/motor/electronics are water sealed, submarines are just underwater EVs.”
However, it is still unsure if the truck will have the option to transform into a submarine-like the Lotus Espirit from the famous James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me.
If the vehicle will be able to float on water for a while so it can be useful during a flood. But not very handy if you’re looking to take it for a spin in the ocean.
Four Built-in Bed
If you’re purchasing a pickup truck, you’d expect it to come with a bed. And Tesla doesn’t disappoint there. They refer to it as the vault. It is made of the same stainless steel as the exterior. It also suffers no intrusions from the wheel wells which gives it a clean and flat rectangular level. The tailgate also opens up where you can find a side-out loading ramp that allows vehicles such as an ATV to roll up and into the vault with ease.
The same vault also has a cover that can be rolled up which helps the car achieve higher Aerodynamic efficiency.
No Mirrors
One of the strangest features of the Cyber Truck will be the lack of side mirrors. It technically doesn’t even have a rearview mirror instead there’s a screen in front that shows you your surroundings.
However, it is likely that the Cyber Truck will end up coming equipped with side mirrors as having them is required by the law in the United States. The Audi E-Tron has already been released in Europe with cameras instead of side mirrors. The U.S still doesn’t allow for that perhaps we may see a change of law to accommodate this futuristic feature.
Long Range Driving
The Cyber Truck is said to be one of the most anticipated vehicles coming out this year. And it is clear to see why Tesla projects that the truck can travel up to 500 miles while equipped with an optional stacked battery pack. Although the standard battery still packs a punch and can last up to 250 miles.
Tesla also plans to expand its supercharger stations across America’s Coastal Areas making recharging much easier and accessible to the public.
New User Interface
While this particular model may lack in visual beauty it makes up for it with the technology that brings it to the table. The Cyber Truck will be equipped with a 17-Inch display, a size similar to the displays found in the Model S and the Model X.
And according to the company, the Cyber Truck’s interface will be tailored specifically for truck users. Tesla hasn’t elaborated yet on these specifications but we expect it to include things like on-screen controls for autonomous trailer hitching, various picker bed features, and adjustments for long travel air suspension. So, what do you think of the Cyber Truck? Do you think it will revolutionize the way we travel or will it be a bust?
