So You Want To Be A Writer — Now What?

You Need More Than a Creative Spirit

I just returned from a three-day writer’s conference. I haven’t been around my tribe since Covid kept us from getting together. Virtual meetings don’t cut it when you’re an extrovert and you NEED to feel the creative spirit of others.

If you are a writer, illustrator, photographer, pottery artist, painter — whatever your choice of creativity, find your tribe. You need positive feedback and concrete criticism.

The following are some of the much-needed reminders I got at this conference. I kept hearing them repeatedly, so I took it as a sign.

Invest In Yourself

Writing is your business. Treat it like one. Invest in a space to create, and have the tools you need. Make this a priority, not an “I’ll do it one day.” Is this your dream and passion? Find a way to do it. Once you start investing and treating yourself the way you deserve, you will, by the laws of attraction, start attracting what you need.
